TRARALGON JUNIOR FOOTY KICKS OFF
The Loy Yang Traralgon and District Junior Football League kicked off their season with games played over three days last weekend.
Pax Hill and Glengarry Under 14s and 16s started proceedings on Friday night with their games being played under lights at Traralgon Recreation Reserve. Both clubs had a win on the night, and Glengarry came away victors and the inaugural winner of the Greg ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂNuggettÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂàWaters Trophy.
On Saturday, ANZAC Day, City Juniors and Southside played all four age groups at Traralgon again and was witnessed by a strong crowd. All games witnessed a minutes silence before each game, and the last post was played as a sign of respect. City Juniors had to wait for the last game of the day to notch a win in the Under 16s, and all games were played with great spirit, which was highlighted by the close results.
ANZAC Day medalists were in the Under 10s Hayden Willaton (Southside) and Darcy Barnes (City Juniors, Under 12s Jeremy May-Jordan (Southside) and Zac Tactor (City Juniors, Under 14s Jacob Albanese (Southside) and Jake Green (City Juniors), and in the Under 16s, Chris Parker (City Juniors) and Ben Truin (Southside).
Round 1 was completed on Sunday in extremely windy and sometimes wet conditions that made it very hard for teams to score. These conditions offered a real test to all players, making scoring very difficult at times. Some teams struggled for numbers on the day, with some clubs still searching for kids looking for a game of football.
