The Doug Lindsay Reserve at Creswick has been earmarked for many years as the future home of all sporting activites within Creswick, however it has been a long process in achieving this aim.
Last week the hopes of those who have stayed true to this wish received an enormous boost with the Doug Lindsay Reserve project receiving a $2.2 million Federal government grant.
This will be linked to $300,000 which has been committed by the Hepburn Shire Council over the next two financial years.
The local community need to commit a further $50,000 to bring the total project to fruition.
A number of the elements of the Doug Lindsay Reserve are already in place with soccer and netball already played at the reserve so with this tremendous boost it is without doubt that the potential is now available to make the reserve one of the premier sporting facitlities in the region.
Once this facility is fully realised it is going to be an attraction to all members of the Creswick community and be an extra incentive to assist in retaining young players and recruiting new players to the Creswick Football Club.
