Sunday saw two completely different matches in the Speed Lions Club Mallee Football League this week. There was a thriller at Beulah and a one-sided affair at Walpeup/Underbool.
Beulah Vs Ouyen United
Ouyen United were visitors at Beulah on Sunday Afternoon. Cold and windy conditions hindered the skills of both teams. The first quarter saw some scrappy play by both sides with Beulah leading at the break by only one point. The second term saw Beulah endeavor to get away kicking 2 goals 2 to Ouyen Uniteds 2 points. The third quarter showed real fight and determination as Ouyen came back to lead by 5 points. The final quarter was a struggle with both sides trying hard to obtain the lead but in the end Ouyen were triumphant winning by one point. The final scores being Ouyen 8 goals 9 to Beulah 7 goals 14. The Demons Danny OBree and the Blues Jarred Combe both kicked 4 goals for their teams. Uniteds Jarred Munro worked hard down the backline along with Dean Jardine. Danny OBree moved well up forward and Daniel Cook was quick in the Midfield. Beulahs Josh Warren and Jeremy Moore moved the ball out of the backline well. Timothy Hill and Tom Hallam created good play in the midfield.
Walpeup/Underbool Vs Jeparit/Rainbow
Walpeup/Underbool had the home game advantage this week and used it terrifically. Even though the weather was against them, Walpeup/Underbool was dominant over a disappointed Jeparit/Rainbow. The first quarter saw the Lakers try and stop the Roos from getting away. Walpeup/ Underbool kicked 5 goals 8 to Jeparit/Rainbow 1 goal 1.
