A team effort to tackle Breast Cancer
There will be something a bit different hitting the footy fields of the Speed Field Days Mallee Football League over the Mothers Day Weekend this year (May 9-10).
A bright pink football will be replacing the traditional red one in Pink Footy Day matches throughout the League as a show of support for women with breast cancer in rural and regional Victoria.
The Speed Field Days Mallee Football League matches will be a part of over 120 games of senior football across the VCFL using the PINK FOOTY in on the Mothers Day Weekend.
Monies fundraised through ball sales and other activities will be going to Breast Cancer Network Australia, assisting their work to ensure that women diagnosed with breast cancer, and their families, receive the very best treatment, care and support possible no matter who they are or where they live.
BCNA is represented by the pink lady silhouette which depicts the organisations focus on women diagnosed with breast cancer.
Raylene Boyle AM, Olympian and breast cancer survivor as Pink Footy Days ambassador encourages football supporters to extend their loyalty beyond the football field...
Â"... and support the women who are often the ones behind the scenes helping to run the clubs."ÂÂ
Glenn Scott, CEO of the WorkSafe Victorian Country Football League is thrilled by the response from country football clubs in the inaugural PINK FOOTY DAY campaign.
"Every community is touched by breast cancer, and country football is no different. Pink Footy Day is a recognition to women who contribute so much to country footy and netball, and a show of support for those women and families in our community who are on their cancer journey."
The Speed Field Days Mallee Football League encourages all community members to get down the footy on the Mothers Day Weekend and to get involved in the pink spirit with your local club.
