Jaxson Barham from the Collingwood Football Club is the Round Four NAB AFL Rising Star nominee.
The 20-year-old was outstanding in his AFL debut against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Friday night.
Opposed to Lionsâ veteran Luke Power in the midfield, Jaxson gathered 28 disposals including 17 kicks, 11 handballs and six marks, his pressure in the wet conditions a feature with a game-high nine tackles.
He secured a senior call up on the back of a best on ground performance with CollingwoodâÂÂs VFL team last week. He played the majority of the 2008 season in the VFL where he averaged 16 disposals per game and was named as an emergency for CollingwoodâÂÂs Round 22 match against Fremantle.
Jaxson is the son of former Collingwood great, Ricky Barham who played 151 matches with the club from 1977-86. Jaxson was selected by Collingwood under the father-son rule with pick 61 in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft. He was one of three father-son selections in 2007 joining Darcy Daniher, Essendon and Adam Donohue, Geelong.
