Patrick Dangerfield from the Adelaide Crows is the NAB AFL Rising Star nominee for Round Three.
Patrick was among the Crows best players in their 24-point victory over Fremantle at Subiaco on Sunday.
Playing in his just his fifth AFL match, he gathered 20 disposals, including nine kicks, 11 handballs and was key player around the stoppages with five clearances.
The 19-year old made his AFL debut in Round 20 last year, kicking a goal with his first kick at elite level.
Originally from Anglesea Football Club on Victoria's Bellarine Peninsula and recruited from the Geelong Falcons, Patrick was the Adelaide Crows first selection (pick 10 overall) at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft.
He elected to stay home in Geelong during the 2008 season to complete his year 12 studies, and continued playing for the Falcons.
An exceptional athlete and graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy, he attended the 2007 NAB AFL Draft Camp at the AIS in Canberra and ranked in the top three for both the 30 metre repeat sprints (23.96sec) and the vertical leap (73cm). He was also a top 10 ranked performer in the 20m sprint (2.92sec).
Following each round of the home and away season, a panel of judges will select a NAB AFL Rising Star nominee. At the completion of the season, one of these nominees will be chosen as the 2009 NAB AFL Rising Star.
The 2009 NAB AFL Rising Star will receive a personal investment folio and a dedicated personal banker, courtesy of the National Australia Bank.
NAB will once again recognise the junior clubs that helped foster the early careers of the nominated players. NAB will present each of the 22 clubs with a NAB Club Recognition Award, a package of practical and financial resources designed to assist them in developing future champions.
The NAB AFL Rising Star is the pinnacle of the NAB AFL Rising Stars Program, which supports grassroots players and football communities and helps young Australians fulfill their dream of playing in the AFL.
