First Indigenous AFL player in for season's highlight reelIT'S been an eventful few days for Daniel Motlop; what with his solid four-goal contribution for Port Adelaide at the weekend, his appearance at the AFL Tribunal on a striking charge tonight, his subsequent acquittal, and his being nominated for Mark
and Goal of the Year.
Port Adelaide's gamble in appealing an offer for Motlop to plead early and cop a one-match ban paid off tonight when the AFL Tribunal found him not guilty of striking West Coast's Adam Hunter.
In Motlop's favour was that there was no video evidence, Hunter backing Motlop's claim that the pair only wrestled and the reporting umpire's admission that Hunter had not remonstrated with Motlop after the alleged contact.
The 26-year-old is now free to wreak havoc on Melbourne's defenders when they clash at AAMI Stadium on Sunday. All that's needed now is for Motlop to win this week's nomination for Mark and Goal of the Year, the video's of which can be viewed here:

Goal of the Year.
