The VFL mourns the passing of VFA Premiership player and long-serving AFL Victoria director Peter Stedwell.
Peterâs contribution to the VFA\VFL and as a Board Member of AFL Victoria since its inception was phenomenal. He played in the Amateurs, VFL Reserves, Metropolitan League, VCFL and VFA before taking on administrative duties with firstly Dandenong then Victorian footballâs governing body. Such was the level of his outstanding contribution; Peter was awarded an Australian Sporting Medal in 2000 for his services to the sport.
Outside of the game he loved, Peter was a Director of Solagran Limited and Echo Resources Limited. He was a graduate of the University of Melbourne and has over 35 yearsâ commercial experience in the exploration, mining, technology and manufacturing industries. He held various senior financial management and commercial positions for small cap ASX listed Companies.
Peter will be awarded VFL Life Membership at the 2009 J.J. Liston Trophy count. He was worthy of induction under the criteria ârendered special service to the League or football in generalâ.

1961-62: VAFA Collegians A Section Premiers 1961
1963: Hawthorn Senior list â injured knee (reconstruction) in reserves
1964: MFL East Hawthorn. Lost in MFL Grand Final
1965: Mornington MPFL. Runner-up B&F MPFL. Represented MPFL in country league wins against Alberton League and Latrobe Valley FL.
1966-72: Dandenong VFA. Represented VFA at ANFC Carnival 1966. VFA Premiers 1967. Grand finalist 1969. Dandenong B&F 1970, Premiership Captain 1971, Captain VFA grand finalists 1972. 130 VFA games.
1973-74: Captain-Coach Cranbourne SWGFL.
1993-94: President Dandenong Redlegs FC. VFA finalists 1994.
1995-2008: Director of VSFL, Football Victoria, AFL Victoria.
