Dustin Wilson first started his employment as a part time employee with AFL Queensland in 2006. His enthusiasm and ability to create a fun learning environment for all participants was evident from day one and remains one of his biggest assets to date.
It wasnt long before Dusty was promoted to a full time position with the AFL (2007) where in his new role as Development Officer, Dusty took his position within the footballing community to the next level. Dusty started 3 new rural based primary school competitions in his first year as DO (Kingaroy , Dalby & Pittsworth) and established fantastic relantionships with all junior clubs. He promoted the sport to rural parts of the Darling Downs and has provided a vital link with the work done at the Cherbourg indiginous community. Dusty is one of the most recognised faces within the Darling Downs AFL community especially amounst his legion of young followers who have loved every minute spent at Auskick and other AFL development programs in which Dusty has been involved.
Dusty's work ethic and committment in his role could never be doubted as he often spent countless hours working back late in the office or travelling back from the far reaches of the Downs at ridiculous times of the night in efforts to promote the game in rural Darling Downs and while we are all very sad to loose him within the ranks of AFLQ we wish him all the best in his new role with Sport and Recreation Queensland.
AFLQ will be holding a farewell party for Dusty on Thursday 9th April, Irish Hotel Russell Street Toowoomba 7:30pm, all welcome!! Come along and give your thanks to Dusty for his countless work in development.
