The Lions players fronted by 3 time premiership player Luke Power took part in a coaching clinic run in conjuction with AFLQ staff with over 150 eager kids in attendance. Aaron Cornelius, Rhan Hooper, Matt Tyler and 200cm Rookie Daniel Murray joined Power in the coaching clinic which involved a variety of skills and games. All Lions players were heavily involved with the coaching stations on the day and did a fantastic job teaching many young hopefuls some finer points of the game.
Following the coaching clinic was a 45 minute signing session where all particpants got the chance to get up close and personnel with their Lions heroes. Photo's with the players were taken by many but the most pleasing outcome from the day was the fact that the players stayed until all the kids got their chance for a signature.
The day was also a success for the Highfields Lions JAFC who managed to gain some registrations for club football and showcase their facilities to a 200 plus crowd. A big thank you goes out to Darren Carroll (Highfields president) and his band of volunteers who worked tirelessly on the day.
Also thank you to Ross Savill and Brett Kleidon who also lent a hand with the coaching on the day.
We wish the Lions players in attendance and the Highfields Lions all the best for a successful 2009 season!! Anyone interested in joining the Highfields Lions for the upcoming 2009 junior AFL season should contact the AFLQ office on 4632 2994.
