Collingwood's excellent pre-season form has continued with a big pre-season win over Bendigo last Friday.
The Magpies ran out convincing 114-point winners against the Bombers, who rested several key players.
Collingwood boasted several big names including forward Paul Medhurst, whose class shone in the clash. He was ably supported by rookie Jarryd Blair, last year's Morrish Medallist from the Gippsland Power, who ran hard through the middle.
Despite the huge loss, Bendigo's coaching staff was pleased with the progress of its first-year players against a strong Magpie team.
On Saturday, Williamstown recorded an easy 50-point win over Sandringham in blustery conditions at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
Williamstown played a more senior line-up than it has in previous weeks, with captain Brett Johnson returning and newcomer Chris Egan excellent off half-back in their first hit-outs for the year. Cameron Lockwood also impressed from defence.
Sandringham, whose new AFL affiliation with St Kilda is in its infancy, had strong contributions from captain Peter Summers and goal merchant Nick Sautner, who slotted three majors.
