THE Nirranda football club juggernaut continues to roll along with the Blues picking up handy onballer Vinny Ryan. Ryan has spent the past few seasons at Merrivale after playing with Nirranda and was placed in the Tigers' senior best and fairest.
Blues coach Mark Inia said Ryan was a handy addition to the club which had done well recruiting in the off-season.
As well as Inia and Ryan, Nirranda has picked up Chris Chambers and Troy Borton from North Warrnambool Eagles, Jock Anderson returns after a stint at Old Collegians, experienced Sam Smith has moved from St Josephs and the club has also signed Lewis Van Der Mark and Lewis Lambert-Fimmel (Allansford) and Bryan Pitman from the Timboon Demons.
"Vinny has been at training the past three weeks. He's a fencing contractor and much of his work is down this way so it should work out well for everyone," Inia said.
"Sam Smith is also hoping to bring down a couple of mates from Geelong and if that happens it will really put the icing on the cake."
The new coach, 34, left Nirranda as an under 17s player in 1991 and spent a decade at Warrnambool in the ruck before spending the past six seasons with Port Fairy.
"It's been pretty good," Inia said.
"We've had good numbers on the track. When you've got 40 blokes running around you can do all the drills you want to do.
"There's a bit of feeling around the club. Nirranda has been down for a couple of years. Now everyone wants some success, they are prepared to do the hard work and chip in," he said.
Nirranda kicks off its Warrnambool and District league season at home against Kolora-Noorat on April 4.
