EAST Warrnambool Football Netball Club has a unique link with The Biggest Loser TV show.
Craig Parsons, who has been supervising the conditioning of the Bombers' pre-season training, is also the supplier of the TV show's boxing equipment.
He's Australia's sole distributor of the equipment and the East players have included boxing in a solid pre-season.
Parsons also works with The Biggest Loser trainer Shannan Ponton and went on the show's white house set last year.
In the past few months Parsons has been concentrating on fine-tuning some of the East Warrnambool footballers.
"East Warrnambool footy club and coach Joey Chatfield wanted a fresh start in 2009," Parsons said. "Joey and myself were probably arch enemies and now we've teamed up for the benefit of the club."
Parsons, who has a background in boxing, kickboxing and personal fitness training, said he had done individual assessments on the East players before undertaking a rigorous regime of cardio and strength conditioning.
"From where the players started they've done a good job in the past couple of months," Parsons said.
"Joey has picked up a few players and the past six or eight weeks have been pretty punishing. We've done work on the sand dunes, cycling and swimming - even gone to the breakwater, Tower Hill and the racecourse."
Parsons said that as a result of the solid pre-season, the players were a much tighter unit.
"They are a lot fitter than they were and are working as a unit. I started just doing the pre-season but now I'll help out throughout the season," he said.
Chatfield was looking forward to Parson's continuing involvement with the club where he will be known as 'the executioner'.
"If a bloke's not pulling his weight or hasn't been disciplined, we'll be calling on Parso," the coach said. "He's already well-respected within the club in the short time that he's been there."
