Collingwood and Geelong commenced their 2009 VFL campaigns with big wins in the first practice games of the year.
Collingwood was too strong for the Coburg Tigers, running out 15.14 (104) to 6.5 (41) winners at Gosch's Paddock last Saturday.
The Magpies boasted 15 AFL-listed players including ex-Sandringham Dragon Chris Dawes (15 possessions and three marks), who was dominant up forward booting five goals to steer his side to an easy 63-point win.
The Magpies were set-up by Chris Bryan (18 possessions) in the ruck, who had handy types in midfielders Danny Stanley (23 touches and four tackles), last year's TAC Medallist Steele Sidebottom (14 posessions and six tackles) and Jaxson Barham (18 possessions) at his feet.
Coburg rover Nick Carnell moved nicely as did VFL Team of the Year back pocket Andrew Horne.
Meanwhile at Geelong on Sunday, Adam Donohue snagged two goals and was one of the Cats best in their 47-point victory over Bendigo.
In what was a competitive hit-out for the first three quarters, the Cats stole a march in the last piling on five unanswered goals to gift new coach Dale Amos his first win in charge.
