The day’s games certainly didn’t disappoint, despite Mother Nature’s best effort to spoil things with the rain and on occasions wind. There were many tight matches and draws showing the competitiveness in many of the grades.
In the Men’s over 30’s Canterbury will start the day unbeaten, however Wellington, Bay of Plenty and Kapiti Horowhenua Blue are all still in with a strong chance having only lost 1 game each.
Over 30’s mixed is a tight race. Wellington (Black) currently leading that grade with 3 wins, however Canterbury are close on their tail.
Men’s over 40 is anyone’s guess. Everyone in this grade either drew or lost a game so it’s all even. Kapiti Horowhenua are the defending champs from 2008 so they will want to put in some convincing wins today.
Finally the Men’s over 45’s Auckland and Wellington had the biggest wins of the day but when they faced off against each other Auckland came out on top 6-3. Counties Manukau also had a good day, so can they come back tomorrow and take a spot in the final.
Day 2 is set up to be a very exciting day.
