Ex-St Kilda rookie Glenn Chivers has signed with the Casey Scorpions.
Chivers played five games for Casey last year as part of St Kilda's alignment with the Scorpions and adds height and run to the Scorpions defence.
Last year, Chivers spent the majority of season 2008 in rehabilitation managing osteitis pubis but returned late in the season appearing in the club's finals win over the Northern Bullants. His best game came in round 20 against Collingwood at VISY Park when he kicked three goals.
Casey Football Manager Craig Lees was delighted with Chivers' signing.
“He was training with Port Melbourne pre-Christmas but he really enjoyed his time at the Scorpions in 2008, so I just kept in contact with him," Lees said.
“He has elite fitness and has the ability to play tall or small. He is the type of player I believe can be a very consistent VFL player."
Chivers had his groins operated on in late October but Lees added that he should be ready for Casey’s second practice match on March 28 against Frankston at Casey Fields.
