Williamstown has bolstered its list for the new season, signing three TAC Cup products.
The Seagulls midfield stocks have been boosted by the addition of classy midfield pair Xavier Gotch (Oakleigh Chargers), son of coach Bradley, and Dylan Joyce (Calder Cannons). Both won their respective 2008 TAC Cup club best and fairests.
Joining the pair is Gotch's Chargers teammate Mark Weekes while Bendigo Pioneers ruckman Jordan Florance has also been added and will help cover the departure of Peter Street.
In addition to his Oakleigh Chargers 2008 Best and Fairest, Gotch was also a member of the Vic Metro Under-18 Championship side. He also was a memebr of the 2008 TAC Cup Team of the Year.
Although disapppointed not to be selected in the AFL National or Rookie Draft, Gotch is determined to continue his development at VFL level with the Seagulls.
Rover/small forward Joyce also has strong credentials, finishing runner-up in last year's Morrish Medal.
Williamstown General Manager Brendan Curry heaped praise on his new recruit.
"It's a coup for Dylan to sign with our club as he had been pursued by a number of VFL and SANFL clubs," Curry said.
"Dylan has attributes which we believe our senior side is deficient in and we believe he can have a real impact at VFL level in 2009.
"Naturally Dylan was disappointed not to be given an opportunity via the AFL National or Rookie Draft but he is a determined young fella who we want to give every opportunity to."
Florance is no stranger to the Williamstown Football Club. In 2008, he trained with Williamstown after gaining employment in Melbourne.
In 2006 and 2007, Florance had injury interrupted seasons, which allowed the Bendigo Pioneers to offer Jordan the opportunity to play as an Under-19 player in 2008. His labours at Williamstown bore fruit in the TAC Cup last year as he finished sixth in the Morrish Medal count.
Meanwhile, Casey has strengthened its stocks, recruiting prolific Gippsland Power player Michael Stockdale.
Stockdale averaged 23 possessions in the TAC Cup in the year just gone.
