David Peter New President of the Basketball Federation of PNG
In addition to using basketball to promote peace and unity in rural areas, Mr. Peter has been involved in basketball in a variety of capacities, including coaching, patron of the University of PNG Basketball Association, technical official team manager for the Team PNG Senior Mens National Basketball team, VICE President of National Souths Basketball League (NSBL), president of City Rangers Basketball Association, and founder of Epari South of Pangia Basketball Team which took out the 2015 Sports Award of the year.
Mr. David Peter said he was grateful about being officially elected as President and was passionate about growing the code in partnership with all associations and stakeholders.
Through well-run semi-professional basketball leagues with excellent career development pathways, player incentives, and programs that prepare players for life after basketball, Mr. Peter stated he hopes to discover, develop, promote, and showcase basketball talents from the nation's rural areas.
Ms. Janelle Kiki was also elected. Ms. Janelle Kiki joins the board as the newly elected Federation Treasurer, bringing a lot of financial expertise to the table. Ms. Kiki holds the position of treasurer for the Lakwaharu Basketball Association and is a recognised member of the Certified Practicing Accountants in Papua New Guinea (CPA PNG).

We have a great opportunity to raise the bar in PNG and look forward to working together with our connected associations. We are appreciative of FIBA, the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee, the Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation, the Australian Government, and the PNGAus Partnership's continuous assistance via the Team Up Programme.
