Weekly Wrap - The Moors and more

It’s been a good week for the Moors family with Harbour rep and Junior Tall Fern Rebecca Moors making her college debut and older brother James posting a 30-point game in the NBL.

Rebecca, ahead of her freshman year at the University of Hawaii (NCAA Division I), joined up with the team for their tour of Japan. The nine day tour is the first overseas excursion undertaken by the Rainbow Wahine since a tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2018.

Despite the Manawatu Jets suffering a heavy 122-88 defeat at the Wellington Saints James Moors put on a terrific display - shooting 60% from the field James scored a team high 30 points. James, across his first five games in the NBL , is averaging 19.8 points per game. Another former Harbour rep Liam Judd scored 11 points with the pair combining for 6 from 11 threes at a heady 54%.

Other Sal’s National Basketball League Round 11.

The top two teams in the NBL met at Eventfinda Stadium on Sunday afternoon and it was the Canterbury Rams that prevailed beating Auckland Tuatara 86-83. Corey Webster finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists but Rob Loe had an off night scoring just 7 points. Charlie Dalton also scored 7 points.

The next opportunity to see the Tuatara is this Sunday, June 16 when the Tauranga Whai are the visitors at Eventfinda Stadium. That game will feature a host of former Harbour reps with potentially 10 ex-reps on show.

The Rapid League game begins at 2.00pm with the NBL encounter commencing at 3.00pm.

Brayden Inger scored 18 points as Southland Sharks suffered an agonizing 100-99 home defeat against Hawkes Bay Hawks.

Dan Fotu scored a game high 23 points as the Nelson Giants beat Tauranga Whai 84-73 – it doesn’t get any easier for the Whai with that visit to Auckland the next game on their schedule.
