AFL Mackay’s Umpiring group have been successful in obtaining funding toward the cost of training and accreditation courses, plus travel to officiate in State and regional level competitions this year.
The Queensland Government provided $3,990 to AFL Mackay to conduct umpire accreditation and training to support Australian Football in Mackay, as a goal to get more Queenslanders active though sport and recreation.
The funding forms part of the Government’s Club Development Programme, and will assist in making sure the regions umpire’s skills are up to date, whilst providing for training of new umpires this season.
The funding also makes allowance for an umpire exchange programme, which will allow our best and brightest umpires the chance to travel to Brisbane to attend State League training sessions and officiate at a State League match.
AFL Mackay is currently on a recruitment drive for more umpires to take part in a busy season ahead. Whether you’re a whistle blower from way back, a former player wanting to stay fit and active, or new to the game and looking for a fun way to get involved with the game, AFL Mackay has place for you.
