More than 50 footballers will be put to the test in the Northern Bullants internal trial match this Friday evening at Visy Park.
It is expected to be a very competitive hit-out as Bullants hopefuls battle for spots on the final list of 45 for the 2009 VFL season.
The internal trial will give new players their first opportunity to impress Bullants coaching staff in a match situation.
New players currently training with the Bullants include:
- Jarrod McCorkell: Originally from North Ballarat, the classy on-baller played with Perth in the WAFL from 2005-2007, winning the club's Best and Fairest and leading the club's disposal count (499) in his final year.
- Jake Hall: Unlucky not to be drafted after having had a good season with TAC Cup side Bendigo Pioneers. In an impressive time trial at the club's return to pre-season, Hall clocked 10.32. An ultra impressive time having beaten the second-placed runner by 20 seconds.
- Ryan Gale: The tall West Australian is enjoying his move and at 6'3" will be a handy utility for the Bullants in 2009.
- Josh Merkel: The former Northern Knights player played with NFL club Eltham in 2008. The midfielder has a great left-foot kick and is dangerous around goals.
- Jesse Casperz: At 6'8" Casperzhas a basketball background. Casperz played eight games with NFL side West Preston in 2008, also taking out best afield honours in the Roosters Under-19 Grand Final win.
- Dave Adams: Training very well, the Maffra product has already won two senior premierships with the Maffra Eagles in the Gippsland Latrobe FL.
- Shaun Everington: Another young footballer from the Gippsland region, Everington has represented Foster in the Alberton FL. A strong on-baller.
- Brad Cunningham: From Euroa, this small but strong onballer was playing senior football in the Goulburn Valley FL at the young age of 15. Went to Darwin to play last year and was selected in the state's Under-18 side.
The club will again be looking to the graduating list of Northern Knights players who include: Michael Dufficy, Shannon Coughlan, Pece Micevski (brother of Billy), Ben Power and Josh Stavely.
