WARRNAMBOOL and District Football Netball League will farewell a loyal and hard-working servant on Wednesday at its annual meeting.
League president Justin Balmer said yesterday Ian Amoore would not renominate for the position as vice-president and had resigned from the executive.
Referring to Amoore as Mr District League, Balmer paid a glowing tribute to the man who served the WDFNL for 12 years, seven as president.
"It's obviously been outstanding service to the district league," he said.
"What he doesn't know about district league football isn't worthy knowing.
"He's still doing the draw for next season and will help out in an unofficial capacity."
Amoore joined the league executive in 1996 and served in a variety of roles, with a one-year break.
Ken Knowles, one of two nominations for three vacant executive positions, is expected to replace Amoore in the second most important post. The annual meeting will feature some positive financial announcements.
Balmer confirmed the league had posted a profit and gatetakings for its finals were up.
"We've had a very good year . . . a very successful year," Balmer said yesterday.
"We have a lot of supporters that follow us every week and followed us through the finals."
Club delegates will be offered two options with the 2009 draw, although the starting date of Saturday, April 4, is locked in.
Balmer said clubs would be offered the chance to break seven days later for the Easter long weekend or have a bye on the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June. With Anzac Day falling on Saturday, April 25, all WDFNL matches that weekend will be played on Sunday, April 26, unless there are special requests from clubs.
Balmer said the executive was also recommending admission prices be pegged at $8 for home-and-away matches.
