Coach Anisa Hadji would be happy with the execution and comradery that her team played with. Sitting 2nd on the ladder, they are poised to be quite the challenge to eliminate in the Finals.
The Under 12 Boys are definitely ramping up as Finals approach. Starting with the U12 Champ Boys would score at least 23 points in every quarter on their way to a 99-45 victory. The U16-2 Boys did well to be tied at halftime with their foe in the form of the Willetton Tigers. Unfortunately, we conceded big runs in the 3rd and 4th quarter that spoiled the result. The U16-3 Boys turned a 9-pt deficit into a 12-point win with a 4th quarter explosion at the Flames of Rockingham. The U16-4 Boys scored enough points including a 20-pt performance by Piok Magot but simply couldn’t get enough stops to fall 84-105 at the hands of the East Perth Eagles.
The Under 18 Champs Men recovered from a 9-point deficit in the 1st quarter to secure a 2-point lead at halftime. They proceeded to lay it on the Flames to the tune of a 68-32 2nd half to secure a 125-87 victory. The U18-2 Men fell just short of Rockingham 73-82 despite a 20-pt game from Martin Nyaundi. The U18 Men White took a 4-pt lead and turned that into a 17-pt victory by the final buzzer against Hawks. Matt Gibbs’ 24 points and Luke Owen’s 18 points proved to be too much for the opposition to keep up with.
The Under 20 Men suffered 2 defeats on the weekend. The Champs Men lost in a landslide at Lakeside against the Lightning. They’ve got work to do to sew up a Finals berth as they sit in 7th place through Round 16. From their results earlier in the year, they would be confident that they can play with anyone in the division, and they will continue to round into form in the coming weeks. The U20-2 Men lost 62-91 even though Oli Millfors poured in 16 points.
Good job to all our players and coaches who competed this weekend. 25-9 is a tremendous outcome! Go Wolves!
