This Sunday, 18^th June, the Wolves ended the day with a winning record of 19 wins and 17 losses.

The Under 12 boys ended the day with a perfect 4-0 record. The Champs team won by 22 points and Hayden Montgomery had a big 25-point game. They remain on top of the ladder. Team 2 won against Mandurah 59-41, with 3 players in double figures. They had an aggressive, fast start, and didn’t look back from there. Team 3 had a lopsided win versus Redbacks with a great balance of scoring. Team 4 had a fantastic defensive performance in a 37-33 win against Perry Lakes’ second team. The defence was especially dialled up in the 4^th quarter when they held the Hawks to 2 points, in route to a 11-2 quarter for the win.

The Under 12 Girls went 3-1. The Champs team moves to 3^rd on the ladder with an 18-point win over the Lightning. Team 2 lost an extremely close, 36-34 game. Tough loss, but very hard fought. Team 4 had a similar game, tightly contested, but they fell on the winning side. Lily Stefanski led the team with 8 points, but it was a well-rounded scoring effort from the team. Team 3 had a blow out win against the Eagles team 1. Aisling Fernandez had a big 13-point effort.

The Under 14 Boys had a tougher day at 1-3. Team 4 had a win while Teams 1, 2, and 3 fell short. Team 3 was previously undefeated, but faced off against an East Perth team that was also undefeated. Our boys didn’t have their best game of the season, and would be disappointed that they fell short, but they still sit in a tie for second on the ladder. Team 4 is now on a 3-game winning streak after a 59—51 win against Slammers. Marcus Bower had a monstrous 25-point performance in the win.

The Under 14 Girls went 2-2. The Champs girls lost on a buzzer beater layup, 47-45. Team 2 had a 56-53 win over the Lakeside 1 team. Izzy O’Donnell had a big 17-point game in the win. Zoe French had 12. Team 3 lost to Hawks, and Team 4 beat Slammers 41-33. Down 24-26 at 3 quarters time, the Team 4 girls had a huge 4^th quarter, 17-7, and came up with the win.

The Under 16 Boys went 2-2 with the Champs team and Team 4 winning, and Teams 2 and 3 falling short. The Champs boys had a huge day. They were playing a Cockburn team that was one spot above them on the ladder and ended up with a statement win – 103 to 64. The game was reasonably close at halftime, but then the boys got rolling, winning the second half 61-30. The scoring was very balanced with 6 players in double figures, and one more with 9. Teams 2 and 3 both had competitive losses. Team 4 beat the Eagles 77-63. They were down 3 at 3 quarters time, but had a spectacular 4^th quarter, winning the period 27-10.

The Under 16 Girls went 1-3. Team 3 won, and Teams 1, 2 and 4 lost. All 3 losses were close calls. But Team 3 in the win was a fantastic game. It was a face off between two undefeated teams at the top of the ladder. Alize Smith had a big 16-point game in the 49-47 win. But with seconds left on the clock, the Wolves called a timeout down 1 to advance the ball and draw a play, and it looked like a win would be tough to come by. They inbound it to Lily Nimmo, who takes 2 dribbles and hoists a 3 at the buzzer, and it goes in. This is possibly the shot of the year thus far. What a game!

 The Under 18 Boys had a 1-3 day. Team 3 and Team 4 squared off against each other in a green v. white clash. Team 3 came away with the victory 79-40 and their defence was a huge factor. Team 2 came away with an exciting 3-point win over the Suns, 92-89. The team had 6 players with 9 points or more. It was a team win, and a great 4^th quarter to come out with the win. The Champs boys had a really hard-fought game in Bendat against the Hawks. The intensity was great. The whole team defended and stuck together. A bad 3^rd quarter ended up costing them, but in the 4^th the kept fighting and ended up scoring 38 points in the quarter as they tried to come back. Ultimately, they fell short though.

The Under 18 Girls group went 1-3 on the day. The Champs girls got down early, had a great 2^nd and 3^rd quarter to retake the lead, but then had a bad patch in the 4^th quarter as the Hawks caught fire from 3 that got them down. The 4^th quarter was a brutal 22-7 run for the Hawks. Team 2 had a top of the table clash against the Eagles and lost by 10. But they remain second on the ladder. Team 3 had the lone win in the group with a 60-46 win over Redbacks. A fast start and 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter ended up the difference as the game was even through the final 3 quarters. Jorja Herman, Ava Tomazin, and Daniella Holl all scored in double figures. Team 4 lost 75-45 to the Magic, but Summer Wilson had a bit of a breakout 25-point performance.

The Under 20 Men went 1-1. The Champs team dropped a close one against the Suns dropping them into a tie with the Suns for 3^rd on the ladder. Team 2 had a good 14-point win and now rise to 2^nd on the ladder. Jaemon Yam, Harrison McGuinness, and Lachlan Enright all scored in double figures for the win. The D-League Men won a close game after getting down in the first half. An excellent 3^rd quarter and some big plays down the stretch of the 4^th quarter get them the win. The D-League Women played Redbacks second team and proved to be a dominant side, winning the game by more than 100 points.

It was a great Sunday of basketball. Lots of excitement. Go Wolves!
