WARRNAMBOOL and District league has finalised netball squads for the Western Regional State League starting next month. League netball president Andrea Richardson said the seven-round competition started on January 22 with grand finals in both open and 17 and under grades on March 19. The weekly Thursday night competition is held between 7pm and 9.30pm at the Val Bertrand Netball Stadium. Richardson said Warrnambool and District league teams expected to do well in both the eight-team open and six-team in 17 and under divisions. "We'll be joined by Hampden and Colac and district leagues, club sides from Warrnambool, Heywood and Terang Mortlake and a Hamilton team," she said. "Warrnambool and Terang Mortlake sides could take players from the Hampden league so we expect the Warrnambool and District league team to go quite well." Richardson said the 17 and under competition would feature some of the south-west's most talented juniors.
