Dion Collins signs with the Wolfpack for 2023
The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the signing of Dion Collins for the 2023 NBL1 West season.
Dion Collins is a 6’8 big man who is ready and willing to do the small things on the floor in order to give his team the edge to win games. Graduating from US College Culver-Stockton in 2019, Dion started his professional career playing in Sweden and later joined the Goldfield Giants in the NBL1 West for the 2021 season.
A dual citizen from New Zealand, we welcome Dion for his third NBL1 West season with The Pack; and we look forward to seeing his contributions to the team this season!
Here’s what Dion had to say about his signing:
“I am excited to be back playing in the NBL1 West at an established and successful club like Joondalup. We have a talented group of guys lining up for the season, and after discussions with Coach David, it was a no brainer to join. The style of basketball we are trying to play fits me perfectly. Wolves’ fans can expect intensity, physicality and a selfless style of play from me to do whatever is needed on both ends of the floor to help us win.”
NBL1 Head Coach David Morrell had this to say about Dion’s signing:
“Dion is a great addition for us and adds front court depth. At 6’8 he is a physical, energetic player. He’s a versatile defender who’s able to play multiple ball screen coverages and move his feet. He also rebounds at a high level. We are excited about the competitiveness and urgency that he will add to our group at that position, and we think he will be great for our culture. In conversations with him prior to signing, he is very much committed to doing whatever he can for the team, and every team loves guys like that who will compete and be selfless.”
Dion joins teammates CJ Turnage, Jonathan Wade, Bryan Michaels and Gabe Chadinha, Jordan Wellsteed, Ben Geel, Archie Hall, Jermaine Malie, Eddie Maslic, Luca O’Brien, Ioannis Dimakopoulos, Quintin Dove and Christian Jurlina for the 2023 NBL1 West season.
