Akiene Tera-Reed put in a stunning shooting performance, scoring a staggering 48 points, as Pyrinto beat Tulos 96-82 in the Finnish League. Tera made 17 of 26 shots from the field (including 7 from 10 threes) and all 7 of her free throws. The Tall Ferns wing chimed in with 12 rebounds for good measure.

The Breakers are headed back to the Australian NBL Grand Final series where they will take on the Sydney Kings and attempt to win their fifth NBL title.

This means three former Harbour representatives Rob Loe, Tom Abercrombie and Dan Fotu will be involved in the five game series.

Unfortunately Sam Waardenburg has missed out on the Grand Final after Cairns Taipans lost to the Sydney Kings.

However in the three game semi-final series, lost by the Taipans 2-1, the former Rangitoto College and Harbour standout was mightily impressive as he recorded two double-doubles and averaged 14.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Perhaps a Tall Blacks call-up is just around the corner!

In American college play Hannah Wentworth has set a programme record at Eckerd College for the most threes made in a single season. Following Eckerd’s 71-57 win against Rollins, in which Hannah scored 13 points, she has currently made 80 from 149 three-point attempts (41.2%).

Elsewhere in NCAA Division II play Tessa Talo-Tomokino scored 8 points as Northestern State fell 74-66 to Newman.

William Heather scored 6 points, on 3 from 4 shooting as Dallas Baptist beat Texas Permian Basin 63-58.

In NCAA Division I action Sam Mennenga reached a notable milestone. He scored a team equal best 17 points as Davidson College (5-9) won 76-75 against St Joseph’s. Mennenga was an efficient 5 from 7 from the field and 6 from 8 free throws including the all-important go-ahead freebie with just one second left on the clock.

Mennenga now has 810 career points and up to 10^th on the all-time list of New Zealand scorers in Men’s NCAA Division I hoops.

Also in the Atlantic 10 Conference Zach Riley scored 6 points as Fordham (8-4) defeated St Bonaventure 78-63 to strengthen its grip on a top four spot on the conference ladder.

Kruz Perrott-Hunt top scored for South Dakota with 16 points, making 4 from 7 threes, but the Coyotes were defeated at Omaha 80-72 to slip to 6-9 in the Summit League.

James Moors scored 5 points (2/2FG) as Colorado State were pipped 80-78 by Boise State.

Emme Shearer scored a team equal best 12 points, and added 3 assists as Portland got the better of Pacific 57-46 to remain second on the West Coast Conference ladder.

In the NAIA Division I Reihana Maxwell-Topia, making 2 from 2 threes, scored 8 points as St Francis Illinois came up just short against Indiana Northwest losing 64-60.

In Junior College Boston Caldwell, the third best 3-point shooter in his conference, made 5 from 9 threes on his way to a game high 25 points, as Central Maine defeated their rivals Southern Maine 73-54.

Louisiana State University, Eunice are unbeaten in conference play after breezing past Delgado 93-65. Kiani Saxon scored a career high 20 points - making 7 from 10 shots - and added 8 rebounds and a pair of blocks.

Rashaan Smith was within a rebound of a double-double as Western Nebraska thumped Lamar 73-37. The former Birkenhead College standout added 9 rebounds to 14 points (6/9FG) and a couple of blocks.

Waiaaria Rogers scored 13 points as Marshalltown went down 92-63 to Northeast CC.
