Heading the news in our roundup of former Harbour players overseas performances this week are the achievements of Kruz Perrott-Hunt and Akiene Tera-Reed who both posted career best scores over the weekend.

Kruz totalled 26 points in South Dakota’s exciting 69-68 defeat of BYU – he made 4 from 5 threes and all 8 of his free-throw attempts as the Coyotes held off a fast finishing Brigham Young.

Sam Mennenga is another player in outstanding form. He scored 21 points and pulled down 7 rebounds as Davidson slipped to only their second loss of the season going down 68-66 in overtime to Charlotte. Up to 540 career points he moved past Matt Freeman (531 points), another former Westlake Boys High player, into 18^th on the New Zealand all-time Division I scoring list. Next in line is Sean Marks who scored 557 points for the University of California between 1994 and 1998.

Sam followed that with 20 points (9/16FG), 9 boards and 3 assists as Davidson were pipped 69-67 by Delaware. 

Also beaten narrowly were Colorado State going down 88-83 against Northern Colorado.  James Moors posted 14 points and 3 rebounds in the defeat.

Zach Riley scored a season high 11 points (2/3 3PG, 3/4FT) as Fordham defeated Maine 72-67. Used sparingly so far this season Zach, afforded 17 minutes playing time, demonstrated what he could provide for the Rams moving forward. 

In women’s Division I action Emme Shearer scored 11 points in just 11 minutes as Portland dominated Evergreen State to win 87-35 as the Pilots improved to 5-3 on the season.

Tayla Dalton added 8 rebounds to a team high 13 points (5/7FG) for St Mary’s College as the Gaels pulled away in the second half to defeat San Jose State 63-48. 

In Division II play Tessa Talo-Tomokino top scored for Northeastern State in their 88-52 loss to Fort Hayes State. Tessa scored 12 points in the defeat.

Hannah Wentworth brought up 100 points for the season when she scored 10 points as Eckerd College improved to 7-1 with a 93-83 defeat of Nova Southeastern. Hannah also added 4 assists and garnered 2 steals

Jordyn Maddix scored 6 points and Keeley Tini 4 points (plus 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks) as Auburn University at Montgomery went down 77-71 to Delta State.

In Junior College action Boston Caldwell scored 21 points (8/11FG. 4/5 3PG) as Central Maine accounted for Albany College of Pharmacy 94-63. He followed that with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in the 89-62 win against Vermont Tech.

Kiani Saxon had 6 points and 3 steals as Louisiana State University, Eunice got past East Texas Baptist 83-53.

Leo Wenham added 3 rebounds, all offensive, to 5 points as Southeast CC beat Highland 73-66.

Away from college basketball Akiene-Tera Reed posted her highest individual score since turning professional earlier in the year. Tera scored with 30 points, on 10 from 14 shooting, as her Finnish club Pyrinto went down 94-71 to top of the table PeKa.

Isaac Fotu posted a big double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds as Tochigi Brex edged Gunma 91-89 in the Japanese League.

Meanwhile younger brother Dan scored his first Breakers points. He scored 5 points in his sixth game of the season and seventh overall in the Australian NBL – he played once as a Development Player back in the 2017-18 season before he embarked on his 4-year collegiate career at St Mary’s College, California.

Still in the NBL Corey Webster demonstrated that on his day he is one of the premier shot makers in the league. The three-time championship winner with the Breakers scored a team high 26 points on 10 from 17(59%) shooting against his former club at Spark Arena on Saturday evening to lead Perth Wildcats to a 92-84 win.

Sam Waardenburg continues to display good form for Cairns Taipans. Against the Sydney Kings he came close to his first double-double of the season accumulating 9 points and 10 rebounds as the league leaders were defeated 94-88 in overtime.

Finally, Matt Freeman has posted consecutive 16-point scores for Bremerhaven in the German ProA League. Matt is averaging 11.4 points and 6.2 rebounds over the first 9 games of the season.
