South East Leisure new managers at Dandenong Stadium
Now we are post July 1, Volleyballers and spectators will have noticed some differences at the State Volleyball Centre at Dandenong Stadium, predominantly no door charge for stadium entry.
SEL have plans for several upgrades of the facility and these will occur in upcoming months.
Pink Round
Recently Volleyball Victoria promoted Pink Round. The pink round was a great success yet again. Maroondah put on a fantastic day at the Maroondah Nets Stadium and have continued to lift the bar each with the way they promote Pink Round and promotion of the event and in particular raise vital funds for the fund.
Volleyball Victoria Operations Manager Deion Moore attended at Maroondah and reports back to the Volleyball Victoria staff was all positive about the experience of the day, the Volleyball in a sea of PINK. Overall, there were plenty of team uniforms supporting the theme with pink shorts, socks and tops. From Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) merch to a breaky BBQ, the community got together and raised just over $8,000 to surpass last year’s figure of $6,000. La Trobe also was involved in the day with a BBQ and fund raising. All door entry fees at both stadiums were donated to BCNA Fund. Volleyball Warehouse weren’t to be left out and helped supply the pink socks on sale which were a popular item to purchase for the day.
On behalf of Volleyball Victoria, a big thank you is extended to all who promoted and participated in Pink Round, all the time and effort that went into rising vital funds for the BCNA, in addition to these funds raised by the above-mentioned clubs, Volleyball Vitoria will also contribute an addition $1,000 to the cause, raising the final total to over $9,000, a wonderful effort.
Volleyball Victoria Workforce
During the month of July Volleyball Victoria saw two departures from our staff, Shannon Lennie Membership Services Coordinator and Michael Haley Facilities Manager. Shannon has moved into a role at the AFL, and we wish her well in her future endeavors and Michael has retired and is working on reducing his gold handicap. On behalf of Volleyball Victoria, we thank you for your contribution to the sport of Volleyball.
I am pleased to welcome to Volleyball Victoria, Joshua D’Rozario who commenced on 8 August as our new Membership and Communications Coordinator, look for some positive changes in the way VV communicate to pour membership and our social media content moving forward.
State League Finals
One of the most pleasing aspects of writing this report is to say its FINALS TIME and how good is it to be playing Finals in 2022, after two interrupted Covid-19 years in season 2020 and 2021. I wish all participants all the best over the Finals Series which will culminate in our Grand Finals on Saturday 27th August 2022. Watch this space for some exciting announcements in upcoming weeks pertaining to the State League Grand Finals.

School Holiday Volleyball Camp
In the recent school holidays Volleyball Victoria coordinated for the first time a School Holiday camp at the SVC. Volleyball Victoria in partnership with the Melbourne Vipers and affiliate GMVA is offered the exciting School Holiday Volleyball Camp during the holidays.
Volleyball Victoria was extremely fortunate to have Olympian Luke Campbell as the coaching director for the three days. The Camp was aimed at participants who are between 8-14 years old and designed for those who are either new to volleyball or are looking to fast track their volleyball skills and take their abilities to the next level. Like all new initiatives, we will assess the camp and look for further improvements for the next camp and beyond. I wish to extend my thanks to Scott Davidson who came with the camp initiative and coordinated all the logistics and coordination of the camp.
