Congratulations to Neerim Neerim South U18 forward Matthew Roberts who chalked up his 100th goal for the season at thirds level after a 13 goal haul last Saturday against Lang Lang. Matt showed an appetite for kicking majors last season booting 16 goals in only six U18 matches but this season he has made huge strides and stamped himself as a player of the future bagging 8 goals or more seven times. With his strong hands, judgement, strength and ability to read play all defenders have found him hard to contain. He has kicked 100 goals exactly and in just 13 matches this season.
Matt started his career with the Warragul Blues (WDJFL) at U10 level in 2013 and a club where he notched 102 matches and 53 goals before a move in 2019 to the Warragul Gulls in the GFL, where he played 24 matches before joining Neerim Neerim South in 2021. Prior to his goal kicking feat this season he came under notice having represented the WDJFL at U15 level and the EDFL Interleague team at U18 level in 2021 and again this year. Not surprisingly Matt has played an instrumental role this season in the Cats top of the table standing and flag favouritism in the thirds.
