All the news on current and past Harbour players, from the past seven days, including seven Tall Blacks named, another NCAA college commit, a 3x3 winner and Fotu family success.

The Tall Blacks long list of 33 players for a Camp prior to the June 30 international against the Philippines, at Eventfinda Stadium, contains no fewer than seven former Harbour players.

Tom Abercrombie (Breakers), Dan Fotu (Breakers/Tuatara), Jarrod Kenny (Cairns Taipans/Hawks), Sam Mennenga (Davidson College), Taine Murray (University of Virginia), Kruz Perrott-Hunt (University of South Dakota) and Corey Webster (Franklin Bulls) all make Coach Pero Cameron’s long list.

Sam Mennenga, back in New Zealand during his university summer break, is the only one of the seven Harbour players named that is yet to be capped by the Tall Blacks.

Last weekend was a memorable one for the Fotu family with Isaac and his club Tochigi Brex sweeping the Grand Final series 2-0 to claim the Japanese League Championship while brother Dan made his professional debut.

Isaac has been outstanding for Brex, during an arduous campaign of 72 games, averaging 13.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game – second highest for Brex in both categories.

In the final game on Sunday, he added 5 rebounds to 12 points.

Dan made his much anticipated debut for Auckland Tuatara in the Sal’s NBL local derby against Franklin Bulls in front of a sold out crowd of close to 2,000 spectators on Saturday night at Eventfinda Stadium.

Only 48 hours after arriving in Auckland from California Dan scored 10 points as the Tuatara (5-1) remained at the top of the NBL ladder with an 88-76 victory.

Rob Loe scored 14 points for the Tuatara while Denhym Brooke was outstanding for the Bulls, amassing a team high 20 points.

Other Harbour players on show were Reuben Fitzgerald (3pts) and Tom Beattie (2pts) for Tuatara while Jett Thompson and Christian Martin each scored 2 points for the Bulls.

Corey Webster, only just back from playing in Egypt, was sideline and is expected to make his Bulls debut in the next couple of weeks. 

Congratulations to Makenzee Boucher on being offered a basketball scholarship at Midwestern State University in Texas. The Mustangs play in the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference.

Before heading to the States, Makenzee will suit up for Harbour at the U19 National Championships in Rangiora over Queens Birthday Weekend. 

Ben Castle and Chris McIntosh were members of the Auckland team that played at the FIBA 3X3 World Tour Manila Masters at the weekend.

Auckland beat Yokohama (Japan) 12-10 but went down by the same margin to the Melbourne team that contained Jesse Wagstaff and Greg Hire.

Auckland needed to win both games to progress to the next stage of the World Tour. On a personal note Chris earned himself a $500 prize after winning the Shoot-out competition in Manila.
