The time was also a new Cloud County School Indoor Record. Wanga , Tansi and Jonathan Dende all competed in the 400m clocking times of 48.65, 48.72 and 49.19 respectively. However in a high quality field of 38 athletes and only nine going to the final , qualifying was very tough and with these times the PNG athletes finished 11^th 15^th and 20^th respectively.Roland Hure competed in the jump jump and recorded a best effort of 7.04 metres which placed him 13^th in a field of 25. Meanwhile in the womens division Leonie Beu recorded a best time of 56.50 in the 400m heats which was fifth overall and qualified her for the final.
