Wolves Sign Downer To Top Job!

The Wanneroo Basketball Association is extremely excited to announce the signing of Mick Downer to the position of Head Coach of the Titan Interactive Wolves MSBL Squad for 2009 and 2010. Mick is currently Assistant Coach for the Perth Wildcats in the National Basketball League, and he was previously the Head Coach of Basketball WA's High Performance Programs. Coach Downer has over 10 years of experience in providing intensive coaching and training at all levels including Head Coach of Basketball Australia National Junior programs in Queensland and Head Coach of the Under-20 Queensland Men.  He has also been involved in National Camps, Australian Basketball Association programs and Schools of Excellence programs.

Mick's credentials made him the ideal candidate for head coach of the Titan Interactive Wolves, as his focus on development of junior players and elite programs is a natural fit with the culture and vision of the Wanneroo Basketball Association.

 In announcing the arrangement, WBA President Ryan Hunter said he was excited to have signed Mick Downer for the next two years. “At Wanneroo we pride ourselves on being successful, and always looking to improve the way we perform both on and off the court. We have held Mick in very high regard since he moved to WA a few years ago, and it is great to say that we have got our man!  Mick is a proven performer for developing talented basketballers, and we look forward to working with Mick to ensure that our talented Wolves players are given every opportunity to achieve to their full potential” Hunter said.

We're glad to support his involvement with Titan Interactive Wolves in the upcoming SBL season. With so many high level coaches and players involved I'm sure we are in for an exciting competition."

 Titan Interactive Senior Business Consultant Richard Kvesich said ".......it’s an exciting time ahead for The WBA with the appointment of such a quality head coach in Mick.  It’s a positive step forward for the club in achieving the full potential of the current player list especially after the men’s team just achieved it’s 2^nd best winning regular season in the clubs history.  This will hold the club in good stead  to strive towards the ultimate goal of achieving its first Mens SBL premiership since 1993, some 15yrs ago.  Titan interactive is extremely pleased to be involved with the Wolves program as it continues to go from strength to strength and looks forward to the coming 2009 season.

 - Open Training Session -

 “All players from the 2008 SBL, Div 1, U23 & U18 Wolves programs are encouraged to attend open scrimmages. Attendance at the scrimmages will be viewed as expression of interest in being involved in the 2009 senior men’s programs which will officially start in Mid-January (dates & times TBC)”.
