Kruz Perrott-Hunt scored a career high 25 points as South Dakota knocked off Tennessee State 83-66. The former Harbour standout earned an incredible 16 free-throws and missed only one attempt while also knocking down a brace of triples as the Coyotes improved to 3-1 this season.

Also posting a career best was Parehuia Delamere as Western Texas College defeated Trinidad State 78-65. Parehuia scored 17 points, including 3 from 5 from beyond the arc. She also came up with 5 steals and 5 assists. Jordyn Maddix dished 6 assists to go with 5 points as Western Texas moved to 3-5 on the season in Junior College.

Sticking with Junior College action Williston State Tetons lost a pair of games over the weekend despite Keeley Tini showing continuing strong form. Keeley is leading Williston in points scoring (15.6ppg) and rebounding (10.3rpg).

She posted 17 points and 8 rebounds in the 73-55 loss to Lake Region State having come up with 16 points and 15 rebounds in the 61-56 defeat by Dawson College.

Western Nebraska are the #14 ranked Women’s Junior College team in the States and they reaffirmed that position by beating Colorado Northwestern 107-55 with Rashaan Smith accumulating 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. 

Back in NCAA Division I Sam Mennenga scored a game high, and season best, 17 points on 7 from 10 shooting as Davidson College Wildcats beat Penn 72-60 at the Myrtle Beach Invitational on Saturday (NZT). The former Westlake and Harbour forward also tallied 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 28 minutes of action.

Sam completed a nice weekend double as Davidson secured a 76-67 come from behind victory against East Carolina. Sam finished with 11 points (5/8FG), 5 rebounds and a couple of assists in 31 minutes.  

Dan Fotu and St Mary’s Gaels made it three wins from three outings with a comfortable 70-51 win against Sothern Utah. The Tall Black forward finished with 12 points (6/10FG) and 6 rebounds.

Another former Rangitoto College forward Sam Waardenburg pulled down a team high 8 rebounds and added 3 points, 4 assists and a block as Miami University beat Florida A&M 86-59.

In Women’s Division I games Emme Shearer put together a nice stats line as Portland picked up a 91-77 win in Hawaii against the Rainbow Warriors. The 2020 Harbour Breeze guard made 11 points (5/7FG) in addition to accumulating 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

In NCAA Division II action:

Sean Murphy has quickly established himself as a key figure for Nebraska at Kearney where he has averaged 30 minutes per game in the opening three fixtures. In the recent 79-58 win against Chadron State Sean totaled 10 points (4/6FG) and 8 rebounds. 

William Heather was one of two Dallas Baptist players in double figures in the 80-66 loss to Southern Arkansas. Will finished with 11 points on 5 rom 11 shooting.

In Women’s Division II play Chanel Brodeur-Muir scored 10 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, a steal and a block as St Thomas Aquinas Spartans (3-1) grabbed a first win defeating Felican 68-63.

Tessa Talo-Tomokino tallied 8 points and 5 rebounds as Northeastern State (2-2) slipped up against Oklahoma Baptist going down 74-60.

Hannah Wentworth also scored 8 points (2/3 3PG) as Eckerd College won a very low scoring game against Lynn University 40-29. Eckerd’s first game of the season was also a Sunshine State Conference opener which made the win even rosier. 

As posted at the weekend Tera Reed moved to second on the New Zealand Women’s All-time NCAA Division I scoring list on Friday (NZT) when University of California Trojans overcame Western Michigan 80-50.

Plagued by early foul trouble (three in the opening period) the Trojans starter played just 17 minutes but still finished with 8 points, making 3 from 4 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers in her third game of the season.

That tally took the Tall Ferns and former Harbour Breeze wing to 1,498 Division 1 career points, a single point more than one of New Zealand’s all-time greats Megan Compain scored for the St Joseph’s University Hawks (1993-97).

Reed is in her Graduate Year at USC having previously played at Virginia Commonwealth University where, as a 4-year starter, she scored 1,466 points.

Only another former Tall Fern Erin Rooney remains ahead of Reed on the all-time scoring list with 1,648 points during a 131-game collegiate career.

Another former Harbour representative Micaela Cocks sits 6^th on the NZ all-time list scoring 1,195 points during her 4-year stint at the University of Oregon (2006-10).
