Wade stays a Wolf

The Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the re-signing of Wolfpack fan favourite Jonathan Wade for the 2022 and 2023 NBL1 West seasons.

A 6’5” guard from Florida in the USA, Wade joined the Wolves for the 2021 inaugural NBL1 season and made a significant impact on the league. Wade averaged 19.2ppg and 6.7rpg game and shot the ball at 51% from the field. He led the Wolves in scoring, rebounding and steals and was second in assists. He had a season high 34 points on two occasions and won an NBL1 player of the week award.

Prior to joining the Wolves, Jonathan played Division 1 college basketball at Norfolk State University where he averaged 19.3 ppg as a Senior. After college he played professionally in Europe where he spent two seasons with Pully Basket in Switzerland and Z Mobile Prishtina in the Kosovo Super League.

Jonathan has had a positive impact on the Wolves community since the day he arrived. His work in schools and the local community has been fantastic and anyone who has met Jonathan would have been impacted by his positivity, personality and outlook on life.

Pairing Jonathan with newly signed import CJ Turnage gives the Wolves a potent scoring punch that the fans will love coming to watch. Jonathan and CJ will both spend time out in the community, coaching in our programs, visiting schools and continuing to grow the Wolves brand.

Jonathan spoke to the Joondalup Wolves about staying with the club for another 2 seasons.

This is such an honor and a blessing to be a part of an amazing organization like this. When I first got here everyone welcomed me in as family. My main focus and goal is for us to win a championship and put the Wolves back on top. I want the fans, sponsors, community and anyone that supports the Wolves to know that I will do everything in my power as the leader to make that happen while I am here. I love you all and thank you for your support.”

Joondalup Wolves Men’s Head Coach David Morrell shared his thoughts on Jonathan staying a wolf.

It is really a positive step for our team to have Jonathan back for two more years. He was fantastic last year, an efficient, versatile scorer in all three levels, and exactly the type of teammate and character guy we need around. The great thing is that I think Jonathan only scratched the surface of what he’s capable of in this league last year. With the next level work ethic he has, he’s only getting started. I am really excited to see how we can help him develop his game in the next two years”.
