EDFL COVID UPDATE – 17/08/21

Juniors

The Junior home and away season (Round 20 & the final round) will go ahead this Saturday 21 August. No spectators allowed.

The top 5 teams will commence a normal 4-week final’s series the week as originally planned (28^th August – 18^th September).

It is the intention of the board to play the junior finals regardless of limited or no spectators.

Seniors:

As announced on 12 August the Board of Management (BOM) agreed to conclude the senior home and away season.

Due to the State Government announcement on 16/8/21 that the Melbourne lockdown will be extended until COB on 2 September the BOM have now called off Week 1 of the finals (28/29 August) and Week 2 of the finals (4/5 September).

Therefore the earliest our season can resume is Saturday 11 September.

The BOM then plan to revert to a final four (ie: Two Preliminary Finals. Ladder team 1 vs 4^th & ladder team 2^nd v 3^rd).

The winner of each match would proceed to the Grand Final on 18 September.

However, these three senior finals are contingent on the State Government ‘Metro’ lockdown restrictions being lifted and at least 1,000 spectators permitted to attend.
