GIPPSLAND LEAGUE – RETURN TO PLAY

Gippsland League will return to play under the following conditions for the 2021 season.

Gippsland League consulted all 10 member clubs around a return to play for senior and junior competitions on August 14^th. Five clubs indicated they were in favour of all grades returning to play and five clubs indicated that they weren’t in favour of a return with no less than three of those member clubs citing difficulties in fielding sides due to the Greater Melbourne player and volunteer restrictions.

The League put in place a decision to return to junior competitions this weekend and gave the five member clubs not in favour of a return to play a chance to field junior sides under a revised draw for the weekend of the 14^th of August. All five of those clubs indicated that they were open to putting together junior teams to compete this weekend.

Based on the League’s strong desire to get competitions back running the following will be implemented for the weekend of the 14^th August. Clubs will be encouraged to work together on the logistics of the matchdays including scheduling match times to suit all involved.

Junior competitions will resume on August 14^th under a revised draw for the August 14^th matchday

All matches played for competition points & percentage as per a regular season match
Games to count for finals qualification
Regular match start times are at the default times (clubs can work together to adjust starting times)
Gates are allowed to be charged. Home clubs may make arrangements for this weekend’s entry outside the usual gate charges.
- No spectators this weekend as per State Government and AFL Victoria protocols.

Senior competitions will aim to resume on August 21st pending updated restrictions during that week. The League will make a decision on a return to play for senior competitions on August 21^st and announce during that week.
