The State Government announced today that our current lockdown will be extended by 7 days until 11:59pm on Tuesday 27th July.
We hope training can proceed and a full fixture of matches can take place on Saturday 31 July. Moving forward the EDFL will follow the AFL Vic Covid Framework By Laws.
In particular clause 4 that reads:
4. Impact of a COVID Interruption on a Multiple Rounds
- Should multiple Rounds of matches be abandoned, no points or percentage shall be awarded to any team
- The season shall recommence with the next scheduled round.
- The season shall continue until the original finals are scheduled to commence
Fingers crossed the EDFL can continue on Saturday 31 July with round 17 (subject to no new restrictions that may be a burden on clubs)
Therefore round 16 this Saturday like round 15 is abandoned.
If there is no more Covid Interventions before the home and away season ends then at senior level five teams (Neerim South, Ellinbank, Trafalgar, Buln Buln & Catani) will play 14 matches and all other teams 13 matches. As introduced after the first Covid interruption ladder positions will be decided on a % won versus matches played basis.
