The post is to advise EDFL Round 11 this Saturday 19 June at both Junior and Senior levels will go ahead. The EDFL Board of Management believe it is in the best interests of community sport and football to proceed as a result of the following communication released by AFL Vic via Nick Fogarty RGM at AFL Gippsland just over an hour ago.
Whilst we await the official AFL Victoria protocols, here’s a summary of the restriction changes the State Government have announced today for community sport:
Greater Melbourne region:
- Permitted to travel to regional Victoria
- Open for all ages to train and play
- Maximum venue capacity of 150 at metro venues
- Canteens TBC
- Change rooms TBC
Regional Victoria
- Community sport for all players is permitted
- Umpires can continue umpiring if residing in regional Victoria
- A maximum patron cap of 1000 people per venue
- Spectators allowed within venue limits
- Indoor group sizes should not gather in more than a group of 50
- Canteens TBC
- Change rooms TBC
Obviously we will need clarity on what these latest announcements mean for community football including change rooms and canteens. As soon as that information is provided, I will share with everyone. In the interim, I encourage all leagues, clubs and associations to plan a return to football this coming weekend.
