Basketball Returns this Weekend

I’m pleased to be able to confirm to the WBA community that all Basketball Competitions will resume this weekend following the Premiers announcement of the lifting of restrictions effective from 12:01am Saturday morning 8/5/2021.

WBA Domestic Games
All WBA junior domestic games will be played at all venues as per the fixtures in place commencing Saturday 8/5/2021.

WBA Seniors Basketball Games

Games will be played as per the fixtures at Willetton Stadium for the week commencing 10/5/2021.

WABL Competition

All games will be played at all venues as per the fixtures in place.

NBL1 West Competition

Round 4 of the NBL1 West Season will be played this weekend as per the fixtures with the Zambrero Willetton Tigers teams travelling to play the Rockingham Flames at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex in Rockingham with the WNBL1 game commencing at 6:00pm and the MNBL1 game at 8:00pm.

Rockingham Flames have informed me that the crowd tomorrow night will be capped at 1000 spectators (inclusive of players, support staff) to avoid the need to for people to wear a mask, so if you are attending the games I suggest you arrive early to avoid any disappointment.

WBA Programs (Academy, Skills Classes, Tiny Tigers)

All of these programs will be operating on their normal days and times.

WA Safe App / Manual Register

A general reminder to please use the Safe WA App when entering Willetton Stadium or our associated venues and if not able to do so the manual sign in register is available at the reception counter within the stadium and please continue to use the sanitizer stations provided throughout the foyer area.

Masks

Please be reminded that the current restrictions requiring the wearing of masks at indoor venues is still in place until 12:01am this Saturday morning so if frequenting the stadium on Friday for training purposes please be reminded that masks are still required to be worn until such time as the new restrictions come into place tomorrow morning.

From Saturday morning the wearing of masks is still required if attending venues with an expected capacity of more than 1000 people, at this point in time WBA does not believe this figure will be reached within the stadium and therefore masks should not be required when attending games over the course of this weekend or next week at Willetton Stadium.

I would like to thank everyone for their co-operation during the past fortnight and for the compliance in wearing masks whilst inside the stadium this week.

Lastly it is an excellent outcome for our sport that we are able to return to normal playing conditions this weekend and good luck to all teams for their games this weekend and during the course of next week.

Regards

Mark Winnett
