Basketball WA Media Release - Competitions Cancelled
Good Afternoon,
Please be advised that unfortunately due to the new directions issued by the WA State Government and WA Health today that all basketball competitions (WBA Domestic, WABL and NBL1) have been postponed for the period Saturday 1st May at this stage until 12:01am on Saturday 8th May 2021 (pending any new advice received from the WA State Govt during the course of next week)
I have attached a media release from Basketball WA for all of your information with the relevant content contained within.
As it relates to the WBA domestic basketball competitions, whilst players under the age of 12 are permitted to play indoors without a mask, referees and all other persons over the age of 12 years in an indoor stadium are required to wear a mask at all times unless they are eating or drinking and unfortunately this makes being able to officiate a game of domestic basketball unachievable during the course of the next week.
I understand this news isn’t what any of us wanted to hear at this stage on Friday afternoon however we do need to act and respect the directions which have been put in place today.
