A MESSAGE FROM WANNEROO BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION – ALL BASKETBALL ACTIVITY SUSPENDED (26 APRIL 2021)
As announced earlier today the WBA has liaised with Basketball WA and Venues West to seek further clarification on how todays State Government announcement will affect basketball activity this week. This evening Basketball WA has decided to suspend all INDOOR competition for ALL age groups for the next 4 days – 12:01am Tuesday 27th – 12:01am Saturday 1st May 2021 in line with the next stage of restrictions. This is due to the maximum capacity of 20 people per venue and the wearing of masks being too restrictive for normal operations.
A decision regarding upcoming Saturday Junior Domestic, Round 3 NBL1 West fixtures and WABL Round 2 fixtures due to happen this weekend the 1st & 2nd May will be made later in the week once more information is available regarding any further restrictions.
Venues West have confirmed that the 20 person per facility extends to the entire HBF Arena precinct (gym, pool, courts etc.) which therefore makes basketball competition and training impossible to proceed.
All WABL and domestic training, senior and junior domestic competitions and all Aussie Hoops and other programs are suspended in line with BWA’s decision above.
Senior domestic finals will be rescheduled to an appropriate time.
Please note all WBA staff will be working from home this week.
As always, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this difficult and challenging situation which is out of our control.
The health and safety of our members is our number one priority, and we will work with all members and stakeholders to ensure a safe return to our sport as soon as we can.
We will continue to provide information as it comes to hand.
