Hello Eastern Eyre Football League Followers,
Well the return of football in our part of the EP is finally upon us. It was only one season of footy missed, however it feels longer.
A lot of changes have occurred in recent months and with great excitement we are pleased to welcome a new club to the EEFL, the Central Eyre United Football and Netball Club or the ‘Storm’. It was a brave decision by the Wudinna United and Central Eyre Clubs to merge, but one I believe was made for the right reasons and will benefit those communities greatly.
With the addition of the Storm, interest and excitement around the competition is as high as I have ever seen it. In addition, all five clubs are starting 2021 with new coaches and with some recruiting in the senior ranks. I am expecting an even competition of a high standard.
A strength of our league is that football and netball go hand in hand on each winter weekend, which creates a great atmosphere at grounds making for a great family day out.
I invite anyone that has not experienced a day at the Eastern Eyre Football / Netball League to check out the program and get to one of our venues – you will not regret it.
Best wishes to the Western Eyre, Port Lincoln and Great Flinders leagues for the 2021 season. Hopefully with everything running smoothly, we will get together for a great Mortlock, Norwood and Kinlough Cup.
A huge thankyou to our EEFL Sponsors. Their generosity has made the running of the league so much easier and provided support for our senior, U17 and U15 interleague sides.
See you at the footy,
Andrew ‘Spud’ Jenner
President EEFL
