Two career high's and a conference selection to report
There are a number of outstanding achievements to report this week in our American College report .
Let’s begin this week with NCAA Division II action where we have two career highs and a near miss to report.
Chanel Brodeur-Muir produced a career best 17 points, as well as 6 rebounds, to get Thomas Aquinas Spartans the 52-44 win over Mercy. The Spartans finished the regular season with a 5-8 record.
The Spartans meet Robert Wesleyan in the East Coast Conference Tournament semi-finals on March 4.
Also producing a career best was Marvin Williams-Dunn. A member of the 2019 U19 National Championship winning team, he made 13 points (4 from 4 from beyond the arc) as Ouachita Baptist squeezed home 68-66 against Arkansas Tech in the first round of the Great American Conference play-offs.
Marvin’s former Rosmini College teammate Will Heather was one point shy of a career high as Dallas Baptist University progressed to the semi-final of the Lone Star Conference Tournament with a convincing 76-55 win against Midwestern State. Will finished with 18 points, making 8 from 11 from the field, including 2 of 2 from beyond the arc.
Emme Shearer was also an U19 National Championship winner in 2019. Ahead of the West Coast Conference (WCC) Tournament beginning this week Emme has deservedly been named to the All-West Coast Conference Freshman Team.
In the Atlantic 10 Conference Akienne Tera-Reid dished a season high 8 assists but Virginia Commonwealth went down 87-68 to Rhode Island to finish the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season with a 10-5 record.
Tera will now get a break before the Atlantic 10 Tournament begins on March 10.
In Junior College Keeley Tini earned herself 13 trips to the foul-line (10/13FT) to earn a game high 19 points even though Williston State fell 78-56 to Dawson college.
Jazz Kailahi-Fulu was the only other Williston player in double figures tallying 15 points and 9 rebounds.
Rashaan Smith scored 8 points (4/7FG) to help Dawson College defeat Lake Region 79-46.
Parehuia Delamere claimed a team high 8 rebounds as Western Texas beat Howard 57-42. The former Harbour guard also snared 3 steals and scored 5 points.
