South Australia continues to operate in a COVID normal manner, with very few restrictions on activities currently in place. Key principles of density (1 person per 2qm), contact tracing (via the Government’s QR Code) and caps on attendance numbers (up to 1,000 under a COVID Safe Plan) continue to apply, as well as maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleaning. As part of Club Development Day SANFL co-presented with SA Health to provide a quick update on key changes and FAQs for the upcoming season in relation to COVID. CLICK HERE to watch the presentation. Clubs should also review Return to Training Checklist above to ensure they’re meeting minimum required standards at their club, as well as refer to the updated protocols document on the SANFL Return to Play website. Also pleased to advise that from 26 February 2021 restrictions on dancing in venues operating under a COVIDSafe plan will be relaxed as follows:
- Venues for up to 200 patrons can offer dancing provided they enforce density limits of 1 person per sqm and QR Code check-in (no set dance floor area or caps on numbers permitted to dance at one time)
- Venues for between 200 to 1,000 patrons can offer dancing provided they have a designated dance floor area, with no more than 50 persons permitted to dance at one time
- Venues for over 1,000 patrons must seek an approved COVID Management Plan
Clubs must continue to manage their licenced venue and any functions in accordance with their COVIDSafe Plan (or COVID Management Plan where relevant). SANFL recommends Clubs/Leagues contact Clubs SA to discuss any concerns or queries regarding the COVIDSafe management of their licenced venue, as well as regularly monitor the emergency directions/public activities information here.

Thanks again to those who gave up your valuable time to attend the 2021 SANFL Club Development Day on Saturday 20 February at Adelaide Oval. SANFL are very appreciative of the hard working volunteers in community clubs, and we want to offer appropriate events, support and resources to help you keep your clubs strong, as well as enjoyable and safe places to be for your participants and members. We welcome those that attended to provide feedback on the event, as well as other initiatives you would like to see in the future. If you weren’t able to attend - we’re still very keen to seek your feedback on why you weren’t able to attend so we can address barriers in the future.

We have also commenced uploading the recordings and resources from the event onto the Club Development website, and encourage you to check these out at your leisure. However no rush – as we’ll leave these on our website for clubs to use all throughout the year.
