Zambrero Willetton Tigers Secure Important Trio for NBL1

The Zambrero Willetton Tigers WNBL1 signings continue with the announcement that experienced guards Hayley Winter & Taryn Priestly and emerging young leader Sophie Maines have signed on with the club for the upcoming NBL1 West season.

Zambrero Willetton Tigers WNBL1 Head Coach Simon Parker had the following comments to make in announcing the signing of the important trio to his roster for the 2021 season.

“It was important for us to keep our core group of players together going into NBL1 West and its fantastic that these three girls, Sophie, Taryn and Hayley have re-signed with the Tigers this year.” said Parker.

“Sophie is one the youngest player in our team and improving each year, her work ethic, talk and leadership qualities around the group are great. On court we will be looking for her to be more physical in a defensive role and have more of a presence under the basket, something she’s more than capable of doing.”

“Not many teams have two genuine point guards but we are very fortunate to have Taryn and Hayley, both very different styles and both bring something different qualities to the team.”

“The thing I like about Taryn is the professionalism in which she brings for her herself and to the group so she can compete at the highest level. She has a great basketball IQ paired with a great skill set for offence, she makes some incredible assists so you better have your hands ready”

“Hayley had an outstanding year in 2019 WSBL, coming second in the league in assists, we need her to look to repeat that in NBL1, she has the ability to score from penetration and from the perimeter, so she’s very handy offensively. We want her to be a more lock down defender this year I think it’s something she needs to add to her list of talents so really looking forward to seeing how she goes with that area of her game.”

The Zambrero Willetton Tigers are expected to make further announcements on some key signings in coming days.
