The Ellinbank & District Football League (EDFL) together with the Ellinbank & District Netball Association (EDNA) have commenced the process for an amalgamation of the two entities.
Both Presidents, EDFL Roger Gwynne and EDNA Karen Porter, attended an initial meeting with a small working group from both organisations to investigate the opportunity to bring the two competitions together.
It was established that a working group be created consisting of members from both EDFL and EDNA plus three independent people, including the chair. They will develop the process and consult with the League, Association and Clubs, for a new constitution to be created before a motion is put to both for the official amalgamation to occur.
It’s estimated this will take at least until October 2021, but both Presidents were adamant that it has to be right for everyone with an equality and fairness to both EDFL and EDNA before it’s accepted.
"We are pleased to enter into discussions. Our initial research suggests plenty of positives. The board of management believe an amalgamation will be beneficial to both bodies and create a stronger entity going forward."
Roger Gwynne - EDFL President
“EDNA have commenced discussions with EDFL in regards to the Amalgamation of the two bodies. Early research has shown many positives for both parties. The EDNA Executive look forward to continuing the process to form a strong base for the Amalgamation, that we feel will benefit all concerned.”
Karen Porter - EDNA President
The method will be transparent with League and Association members kept informed throughout the process until a new Football Netball League is created.
