Werribee has announced that former star player and 1995 Liston Trophy winner Paul Satterley is back in the new role of Development coach.
Satterley played 83 games for the Tigers and won the VFL’s highest accolade in 1995.
Since leaving Werribee, Satterley has tasted premiership success in the Western Region Football League as both a player (2002) and coach (2004) at Hoppers Crossing Football Club.
In 2006, he moved to the Western Jets as an assistant coach to Mark Neeld before moving to the Northern Knights as Head Coach for the past two seasons.
Satterley's responsibilities will primarily be working with the first and second year players. This role includes on and off field development of the younger part of the list as well as his invaluable input for all players of the Werribee Football Club.
“Some of my most enjoyable years were with the Werribee Football Club so I have always thought I would return at some stage," Satterley said.
"Working with ‘Axe’ (coach Simon Atkins) and an exciting young list will be a great opportunity, I look forward to assisting in the development of these players.”
Satterley will also be involved in recruitment and list management and in developing youth programs like the Dale Morris Squad.
Atkins welcomed "Satts" back to Bartercard Oval.
“I played with Paul and know his attributes as a player and a man and I have watched his coaching and he is a real asset to our club and I am sure the players will gain great benefit from his experience and know how," Atkins said.
