Capital Football can today announce that Delfina Dimoski and Alex Twomey will referee the 2020 NPLW Grand Final and 2020 NPL1 Grand Final respectively at Deakin Stadium on Saturday (26 September).

Delfina Dimoski will be joined by assistant referees Aisha Strutt and Karla Martin and fourth official Bruno Kehl for the 2020 NPLW Grand Final, while Alex Twomey will be accompanied by assistant referees Alex McConachie and Nathan Shakespear and fourth official Bruno Kehl for the 2020 NPL1 Grand Final.

Capital Football CEO Phil Brown congratulated Dimoski and Twomey on their appointments.

“Delfina and Alex are two of our most experienced and respected match officials,” Mr. Brown said. “These appointments are due recognition for their outstanding efforts throughout the season.”

This will be Dimoski’s third appointment as the referee for the NPLW Grand Final in eight years as a Capital Football referee. Dimoski said she felt grateful to be appointed to the middle of the NPLW Grand Final once again.

“My appointment shows that consistent performance on matches and dedication at training and education sessions doesn’t go unnoticed,” Dimoski said.

“I am privileged to lead such a strong team. Aisha and Karla are definitely two female referees with bright futures ahead of them and I am so excited to share this opportunity with them.

“Achievements like this are truly a team effort. The motivation and unwavering support both on and off the park of my family, partner Nathan, friends, and my mentor Richard Naumovski, have all helped me reach this milestone.

“I also want to give a shout out to my fellow referee colleagues, especially the girls, for fostering a competitive yet supportive environment.

“The 2020 NPL1 Grand Final will be Alex Twomey’s first appointment in the middle of an NPL1 Grand Final, also in his eighth year as a Capital Football referee. Twomey said he was looking forward to his first NPL1 Grand Final.

“It’s been a bit of a surreal season, with COVID-19 delaying everything,” Twomey said. “Just like the players it has been a little hard to find some consistency but I am very thankful to be recognised for the hard work I have done at training and during my games this year.

“I’d like to thank my family for their ongoing support every week, to Gavin Martin for pushing me and coaching me, to Capital Football for providing the opportunity to referee the NPL1 Grand Final and my referee colleagues for their support.”

Meanwhile, Lauren Hargrave has been appointed as the referee of the 2020 NPLW Reserves Grand Final alongside assistants Liam O’Rorke and Tom Gellatly, while referee Georgia Ghirardello will be in the centre for the 2020 NPL1 U23 Grand Final with assistants Liam O’Rorke and Tom Gellatly.
