Montreal, QC.
One of the positive things to come out of the negative situation that has been the Covid 19 pandemic, is adaptability.
Everyone has been forced to pivot to some extent. From companies moving to entirely remote operations, zoom catch ups with friends rather than real catch ups or turning to old school forms of entertainment such as puzzles during lockdown.
Footy is no different.
Normal operations of clubs have undoubtedly been affected and the positive aspect is that in all parts of the country, clubs are doing what they can, taking into account local restrictions and health guidelines, to keep footy moving for their members!
AFL Quebec is a prime example of taking restrictions and safety into account, adapting to the conditions and providing opportunities for their members to play Footy safely this Summer.
With contact sport being restricted by the Quebec Government this Summer, weekly Flag Footy sessions in-lieu of normal gameplay have been the plan for AFL Quebec. Complete with ‘flag belts’, the games have been action packed, fun, inclusive and most importantly safe for everyone.
Now that restrictions are starting to loosen contact games are slowly being introduced and some sort of normalcy will likely return for the organisation, but the new found form of fun games and the ability to adapt is something that will remain.
